Economy[]

The economy is very diversified and the nation is very stable in ecanomic terms.

It is a major exporter of oil, natural gas, fish products, plastics, wood products, paper, radios, hand tools, gravel, uncut stone blocks, medicines and polypropylene piping.

Tourism, banking, mobile phone production, nickel mining and light industry are also major industries.

Oil production has been central to the Norwegian economy since the 1970s, with a dominating state ownership (Statfjord oil field and others).

The 2012 EU Stock Slump (A better world TL) and the 2008 European 2008 European Toxic Debt Crisis (A better world TL) had only a minor effect.

Standard of living[]

It is considered to be one of the happiest countries in the world. They enjoy a high standard of living and the country ranks highly in some metrics of national performance, including education, health care, protection of civil liberties, democratic governance, prosperity and human development. Crime is rare and of only a petty kinde. The country ranks as having the world's highest social mobility, a high level of income equality, is the country with the lowest perceived level of corruption in the world, has one of the world's highest per capita incomes, and one of the world's highest personal income tax rates.

Because of Oslo's northern latitude, the amount of daylight varies greatly, from more than 18 hours in midsummer, when it never gets completely dark at night (no darker than nautical twilight), to around 6 hours in midwinter. The "midnight sun" is above the horizon in Narvik from 25 May 20 to 18 July, and the period with continuous daylight lasts a bit longer, from approximately 10 May to the end of July, polar night from 5 December to 6 January. The "midnight sun" is above the horizon from 17 May to 28 July in Vadsø, and the period with continuous daylight lasts a bit longer, polar night from 26 November to 17 January.
